Silverstone Leasing Charity Football Event Doubles Fundraising Total

The second ever Silverstone Leasing charity football tournament has more than doubled the funds raised at its debut event.

Twelve businesses from across Northamptonshire took to the pitch on Sunday 15 August for a five-a-side competition at Daventry Football Club, all in support of Cynthia Spencer Hospice.

First launched the year before the pandemic, the tournament is the creation of Ryan Bishop, Sales Manager at Silverstone Leasing. Combining his passion for football and strong network of local businesses, Ryan aimed to raise vital funds for the company’s long-standing Charity of the Year.

Ahead of the tournament, Silverstone Leasing launched a dedicated registration page and Ryan reached out to local businesses, all of which paid to take part.

More than 150 people attended the event to enjoy the football and support the fundraiser. Activities included an inflatable dart board game and a popular raffle, with standout prizes such as signed Northampton Town FC shirts.

Euro Building and Maintenance Contractors Limited emerged as overall winners, with YMD Boon Architects taking the runner up trophy.

The event raised an impressive £2,096, more than double the £732 total raised the previous year.

Scott Norville, Managing Director at Silverstone Leasing, said:

“We are thrilled with the success of the second Silverstone Soccer event. Cynthia Spencer Hospice has been our chosen charity for the past five years. Several members of our team have personal connections to the hospice, and we are proud to support such an incredible local organisation.

“This event was not just about raising money. It was also about bringing people together after the challenges of the pandemic and enjoying real face to face connection. The quality of play was fantastic, with many teams having trained for months.

“Alongside the football, the event created great networking opportunities and many businesses left with new leads.”

Nina Gandy, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at Cynthia Spencer Hospice, attended the event and engaged with the participating teams. Silverstone Leasing hopes this will encourage further fundraising partnerships between the hospice and local businesses.

Nina said:

“The tournament was a huge success once again. It was brilliant to see familiar faces from the last event and to welcome new teams too. The atmosphere on the day was full of energy, and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying a real event again.

“Everyone who played, attended, and donated raffle prizes has made a real difference to our patients and their families. A heartfelt thank you to Ryan, Scott, and the entire team for another fantastic event.”

Silverstone Leasing has already committed to hosting the tournament again next year.
